This Week's Featured Artists: Band It & Sea of Cortez Salt

Marianne Clagett owner of Band It has been involved in sewing or crafting most her life. Her primary focus this year is producing many styles of hats from the oversized sun hat to the fun Newsboy style cap. If color is your thing, she has something for you. As she has always loved hats, and embellished them with flowers to give the appearance of a balanced head on a tall frame. A few years ago, she turned her love of adorning hats into a wearable art. Her colorful handmade fabric hat bands and cap bands with a tissue paper flower are removable and interchangeable giving the option to satisfy any mood. You can see a sampling of the many hats and colors at her website. Appointments for private showings are also available. www.tiahatbands.com U.S. cell: 530-613-6687 or Mex cell:686-123-5147.

Becki Sue & her Big Rockin’ Daddies!
Rockin’ Down the House in San Felipe
by T. Neal Stratman

Becki Sue & her Big Rockin’ Daddies! will be performing in San Felipe on Friday, March 26, at JollyMon at 8pm

Hailing from the South Puget Sound region of Washington state, Becki Sue & her Big Rockin' Daddies!, formed in 2003 by guitarist Tom "T-Boy Neal" Boyle, has risen to elite status among not only blues bands in the Pacific Northwest region of the U.S., but among all bands in that region.

With awards ranging from "Best Blues Band" (Washington Blues Society in 2006 and 2007), "Best Regional Band" (Oregon's Cascade Blues Association in 2008) to "#1 Best Band in Western Washington" (Seattle's King 5 TV in 2008 out of 300 bands, and second place in 2009 out of 475 bands), Becki Sue & her Big Rockin' Daddies! is one tight outfit! In addition, they have numerous individual awards including "Performer of the Year" and "Vocalist of the Year" for Becki Sue, five "Electric Blues Guitarist of the Year" awards for T-Boy, three "Best Bass" awards for Les "WildChild" White, and "Best Sax" and "Best Drummer" awards for Jim King and Jeff Hayes, respectively.

After performing in the 2007 International Blues Challenge in Memphis, one judge commented, "Out of all the bands that I saw at the 2007 International Blues Challenge, Becki Sue & her Big Rockin' Daddies! was the band that I enjoyed the most."

Their new CD, Big Rockin’ Boogie, to be released on Underworld Records in June, will show off the group's “under the radar” songwriting skills as well as significant musical growth.

This Week's Featured Artists: DeCoursey Wood Sculptures & Raquel Ferrer

DeCoursey Wood Sculptures
DeCoursey studied art exclusively for a year while attaining his degree in manufacturing management. Throughout the years he created works of art in acrylics, oils, pencil and pen and ink. However, his career as an engineer and business owner left little time to pursue his love for art. In the mid 1980’s he created his first wood sculpture and found that the unfolding of the form in wood and the delicate touch needed in finishing it into a pleasing art object gave him more satisfaction than any other media in which he had previously worked. DeCoursey spends his days in his studio creating beautiful pieces from select woods. Many local community service organizations have also benefited from his many talents. Raquel Ferrer – Custom Painted Pillows
Throughout her life Raquel engaged in various arts and crafts.  Some of her favorite projects have involved beading, ceramic painting, crocheting, acrylic painting and oil painting on canvas.  Raquel has always had the talent and desire to create works of art; however, she is now fortunate enough to be able to do it full time.  She is well known in the Rosarito art community for her custom hand painted pillows and accessories.  Her work can also be found in Polo’s Gallery in Rosarito.

Visit his booth for an introduction to Scott and a sample of his talents. 686-148-6385 or leave a message at 686-576-0224

Steve Sherrod - Iron Man Steve
Steve Sherrod or of late, Iron Man Steve, is a financial planner by profession. He lives and works full time in San Felipe with clients around the world. He has always loved to work with his hands and create and build things of his own design. His iron work started as a hobby and a wonderful mental break from the financial world. During the last year, he has also taught welding and iron work to participants in Desert Mothers' Work Shops. As with many artist's media, the iron seems to play a part in what the final result is but the original design resides in the mind of the artist or the person he builds the custom work for. Let him create some work that is a reflection of YOU. His work is also displayed locally at Baja Nueva. Phone: 686-576-0034 Email: sjs497@aol.com
