This Week's Featured Artists: Band It & Sea of Cortez Salt
Marianne Clagett owner of Band It has been involved in sewing or crafting most her life. Her primary focus this year is producing many styles of hats from the oversized sun hat to the fun Newsboy style cap. If color is your thing, she has something for you. As she has always loved hats, and embellished them with flowers to give the appearance of a balanced head on a tall frame. A few years ago, she turned her love of adorning hats into a wearable art. Her colorful handmade fabric hat bands and cap bands with a tissue paper flower are removable and interchangeable giving the option to satisfy any mood. You can see a sampling of the many hats and colors at her website. Appointments for private showings are also available. www.tiahatbands.com U.S. cell: 530-613-6687 or Mex cell:686-123-5147.

After performing in the 2007 International Blues Challenge in Memphis, one judge commented, "Out of all the bands that I saw at the 2007 International Blues Challenge, Becki Sue & her Big Rockin' Daddies! was the band that I enjoyed the most."
Their new CD, Big Rockin’ Boogie, to be released on Underworld Records in June, will show off the group's “under the radar” songwriting skills as well as significant musical growth.

This Week's Featured Artists: DeCoursey Wood Sculptures & Raquel Ferrer
DeCoursey Wood Sculptures
DeCoursey studied art exclusively for a year while attaining his degree in manufacturing management. Throughout the years he created works of art in acrylics, oils, pencil and pen and ink. However, his career as an engineer and business owner left little time to pursue his love for art. In the mid 1980’s he created his first wood sculpture and found that the unfolding of the form in wood and the delicate touch needed in finishing it into a pleasing art object gave him more satisfaction than any other media in which he had previously worked. DeCoursey spends his days in his studio creating beautiful pieces from select woods. Many local community service organizations have also benefited from his many talents. Phone: 686-215-4497Email: pkprepp@msn.com
-------------------------------------------------------------
Raquel Ferrer – Custom Painted Pillows
Throughout her life Raquel engaged in various arts and crafts. Some of her favorite projects have involved beading, ceramic painting, crocheting, acrylic painting and oil painting on canvas. Raquel has always had the talent and desire to create works of art; however, she is now fortunate enough to be able to do it full time. She is well known in the Rosarito art community for her custom hand painted pillows and accessories. Her work can also be found in Polo’s Gallery in Rosarito.

During the last year, he has also taught welding and iron work to participants in Desert Mothers' Work Shops. As with many artist's media, the iron seems to play a part in what the final result is but the original design resides in the mind of the artist or the person he builds the custom work for.
